
About the Role
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Ability to confidently provide front line, in-home support to adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities who face varying challenges
• Proven ability to work with mental health concerns, self harming behaviors, and aggressive tendencies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond/remain calm in emotionally charged situations
• Positive Attitude
• Solid computer, documentation, and English language skills are needed
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Must be able to identify issues, set priorities and implement an appropriate plan of action
• Proven ability to work collaboratively
Other Necessities:
• You will need to have a reliable car with personal liability insurance - minimum third party liability coverage must be two million dollars ($2,000,000.00)
• You will need to be able to use your own vehicle for work purposes (driving for Work)
• A Class 5 or better driver's license issued in Canada is required
• Successful candidates will need to complete a Vulnerable Sectors and Criminal Record Check
the Content Manager button in the Add panel on the left.
Requirements
Formal Education: Post Secondary Education in Social Work, Community Disability Studies, Psychology, etc.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing supports to adults with dual or multiple diagnosis. Experience dealing with challenging and sometimes physical or violent behaviors is a must. Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
